The "plant" in my front garden.

Gardening

A nice garden is something that I appreciate but I certainly do not want to have any part in maintaining it. The garden and lawn at my house are quite large. While I have hired someone to mow the lawns for me, I optimistically thought that I could manage to keep the rest looking good. This morning as I was backing out of the garage, I looked over to the front garden and noticed a large, tall plant growing near the house. I thought it was unusual, as the last time I had really looked at that section of the garden, I had thought that it would be good to plant something in exactly that spot. I wondered how the plant got there - had I done it in my sleep, had my sister come over and planted it for me? I was so curious I got out of the car to have a closer look. I then discovered that it was a weed. A HUGE 1m tall dandelion weed. Given I am pretty sure that weeds don't grow that tall overnight, it has become very clear that I have not actually done anything in my garden in the six month...

Auckland is lovely.

Yesterday was a glorious winter day, cold, clear and sunny. I walked up One Tree Hill again (which incidentally does not have a tree.....long story for you non New Zealanders). Such a lovely view, I'm lucky to live here.

Not my shoes......

But I wish they were!!!!

Goal One Achieved!! (sort of)

Last night was the big challenge. About a month ago my trainer made me climb a hill and timed me. She said that in a month I needed to climb the hill again, and beat that time...but I also needed to be carrying 10kg. Well last night I did it....sort of.  I did climb the hill and I was carrying 10kg but I matched the time I did last time. I am still pretty proud. I felt strong and I recovered pretty quickly once I got to the top and was able to keep walking at a reasonable pace. Next challenge is to do the same again, but over an hour hill walk. I'll keep you updated.

It may be raining but....

....this week I am going to have a good week! Not feeling quite so sick so reckon I can tackle whatever I come up against....including my hill walk challenge with my trainer tomorrow. Eeeek!!!! Plus I have Lady Gaga concert on Thursday!!!! Hooray! (Apologies for the overuse of exclamation marks).

This is why you should not leave paper bags on the floor when you have a cat.....

Well done small cat. Pretty sure it is dead now.

Climbed it!!

Was passed by pregnant woman and several tourists, but still made it! Long journey to go to decent fitness but I am determined to try hard and get to the point where I am passing the pregnant woman and tourists!!!
