Hosting Success!!

What a great weekend! Indian feast on Saturday night and casual lunch that ran into dinner on Sunday. Great time had by all, including me. Maybe those great hosting genes that run in my family have come through to me?

Domestic Goddess

I come from a line of great hosts. My parents know how to throw a great party, and they make it look effortless. This has continued with my sister, who is an amazing cook and attending a dinner at her place is a culinary delight. And then there is me. I want to be a good host. I have the motivation. I love the idea of people coming round and enjoying themselves at my lovely house while I flit around making sure everyone is well feed and watered. The reality is different. I invite people over with great plans of awesomeness and then crumble as their arrival approaches. I then spend the evening stressing about whether people are enjoying themselves and getting overwhelmed. This weekend I have organised for my parents to come over on Saturday night and my boyfriend's family to come over for Sunday lunch. In theory these are both low key events, but I am already starting to stress. Beyond the normal worries of "will the house look okay" I am now starting to stress about what ...

Sharing

I've never been great at sharing and having been single and lived alone for many years has meant I have perfected the art of selfish living. Now that has all changed. Don't get me wrong, most of the changes are good, but last night I was reminded if the bad parts of sharing. I woke up to find myself squished on the edge of the bed. To my right was my snoring boyfriend. On my legs was snoring large cat. On my belly was snoring small cat. I love all three of these creatures, but God damn I wish I had a bigger bed....and ear plugs.

Are you in Cyprus?

Apparently I am. Or at least my credit card is. This morning, I got a call from my Aussi bank asking me about some "unusual activity" on my card. Turns out someone has racked up over $2000 worth of bills on my card. The confusing thing is that I seldom use that card, so am not sure when the data theft could have happened. Luckily, the bank will reimburse the money. Certainly a reminder about how you need to check expenditure on your cards!!

For Your Entertainment

Yesterday an email was forwarded round some of us in the office that linked to the top 25 funniest autocorrects of 2012. Today a colleague said to me that the funniest thing about the link was not the content, but actually was listening to me laugh as I read through it. The 25 Funniest Autocorrects of 2012

Betrayal

It's a sad day when you realise your cat likes your boyfriend more than he likes you. Sigh.
