To give or not to give?

Christmas is closing in on us fast, and I am completely unprepared. So this weekend I plan to do some shopping and hopefully get everything organised. As an added degree of difficulty, I have started seeing someone and I am now faced with the age old question: do I get him a Christmas present or not? And if yes, what do I get?  I wish there were some guidelines on this. Some sort of chart that correlates the need to buy a gift (and of course dollar value if gift is required) on the y axis, to time spent together on the x. It would be so handy, you could look along to 6 weeks and then check to see if a gift was required, and how much you should spend. Everyone would have the same chart so everyone would be clear on the rules. What a glorious world that would be. Sadly, such a handy invention does not exist and I am left to make my own call on all of this, I suspect I will get it horribly wrong and buy something hugely inappropriate.  Like socks. Or a fluffy ...

Damsel in Distress

When you hear a woman shrieking about a cockroach in the bathroom, there are two things you can do..... 1. Leap up and race in to rescue said damsel from the ferocious cockroach. Or 2. Laugh. And then laugh harder when said damsel stomps into room demanding to know where her knight in shining armour is. Guess which one happened to me.....

Grant and Adrienne

I have two new best friends. They have just visited me and are about to change my life! Okay, so I am going to have to pay them to be my friends, but it is so worth it!!!! And who are these wonderful people? They work for Jim's Mowing and they are going to wrestle my garden back into submission after 12 months of neglect. I love Grant and Adrienne.

Blind Optimism

I know that many of you will be wondering if I have continued to lose cm off my neck through my training. Well I can reveal that I have lost a total of 4 cm of my neck over 6 months. So with that news I am feeling very swan like today and expect comments if you see me. In other news, life has been racing along at a cracking pace over the last couple of weeks and I am not really keeping up. I'm really not sure what happened since I came back to NZ, but I have gone from being super organised to constantly playing catch up. Don't get me wrong, I am so much happier here, but I also am feeling a bit overwhelmed as my to do list at home and work gets longer and I don't seem to be making progress on things. A great example of this is my study, or as I like to call it, the room where paperwork goes to die. My study, formally a sanctuary of organisation, is now filled with piles of paper, waiting to be filled or dumped.  At one point there was a system to the piles, but I think I ne...

Email from our office manager to all staff........

Dear Auckland staff, I’m sure the person who put dishwashing liquid in the dishwasher on Level 5 was only trying to be helpful however please note that only the powder goes in this machine not liquid. The bubbles from the liquid are extremely hard to get rid of and are still happening even after 5 washing cycles! Kind regards........
That awkward moment when you go to get changed into your gym gear and realise you have forgotten your shoes......and your pants......

Time flies....

I can't believe how quickly the last few weeks have passed. It's been a blur! Life is pretty awesome right now. Yes I still am finding half eaten lizards in my hallway thanks to small cat, and yes I'm still struggling to climb hills with my trainer...but summer is starting to appear, my online dating experiment is going well and there is an awful lot to grin about. So here is a picture of a unicorn, drawn by my gorgeous niece, so that you can have some magic in your day too.
