Things you'll never know

Every night after you have gone to bed, I put your toys away and set things up differently so you will have an adventure finding new toys to play with in the morning. Every night, at midnight and 3am I go into your room and cover you up. I whisper "I love you" in your ear and tell you are special, smart and magnificent. I can't give up the baby monitor yet, because I still need to listen to you breathe. Each morning I try delaying leaving for work so I can see you face before I go. On the mornings you want to "help" me put on my make up and put on yours with me, my heart sings that you want to be close to me. Every day we are apart, I ache deep in my heart. I struggle at times with being a good parent, as part of me wants to give you everything you want but I know that I have to say no and be the bad guy in your eyes at times in order to raise you right. Every time Dad sends me a photo of you while I'm at work, I struggle to resist showing everyone arou...

My poor little seal

Poor Gracie is STILL sick. It's progressed to a cough which sounds like a seal. I hate that there is nothing I can do other than cuddles. So we've been watching movies and cuddling on the couch. Hope she sleeps tonight. Was a rough night last night and I think we could all use a rest.

What do two year olds dream about?

I went into Grace's room at 2am to tuck her in and she was sleep talking. She clearly said the words "Princess" and "Hair" which is absolutely adorable! Her "Princess" is the Barbie Make Up Doll I had as a child which she likes to brush the hair of. I love that her wonderful brain was whirring through the events of the day and remembering things she enjoyed.

Play Doh

I love it. Grace loves it. But the 30min spent picking iddy bitty bits out of the carpet after Grace decided to walk off the plastic mat to show me her creation...yeah I don't like that so much.

Problem Solver

So Mum bought me two pairs of new shoes. That's FOUR shoes. But I've only got two feet! Being a super smart girl I came up with a solution to enjoy both pairs at the same time.

Lunch date

Grace and Chad came into work to take me out to lunch. Grace was given a Griffins Cookie Bear toy and some biscuits.  She was very happy.  I should mention that Grace was given a Cookie Bear when I first started at Griffins but sadly our dog Flynn took a liking to it and ate it. I suspect she will be super protective of this one!! We then went to the cafe where I get my morning coffee from and she blew kisses at the waitresses and was positively charming. I love my family so much and love showing them off.

Pre baby purchase. How little I knew.

They look so happy. I never looked that happy when I tried carry Grace in that bloody thing. This was a "pre-baby-my-life-will-be-super-active-post-baby" purchase. Ba ha ha ha.

Smart man

I noticed the other day that when Chad sent me through a picture of Grace eating an ice block, she was wearing a hat. Didn't think much of it until tonight on the way home I was talking to Chad as I drove home and he was about to give Grace her dinner and he said "Hold on, I gotta put her hat on." You have to what? He explained how every Grace always ends up with food in her hair when she eats. He's right. I've seen her use a soft tortilla as a hat one meal and many times discovered a noodle or smear of peanut butter in there at bed time. So hence the hat - problem solved! Cant believe I didn't think of that. My man is a genius.

There's a little something in my water.

Every. Single. Day

Every morning Chad and I lie in bed waiting to here little feet come into our room. Grace wakes, gathers as many soft toys as she can carry, brings them into our room and counts them as she proudly puts them on our bed. She averages about 6. I love our morning routine.
About a million years ago (say 7) I made my friends and their kids "Team Hirshfeld" family t-shirts. Now Grace is two, my friend returned one of them so Grace can join Team Hirshfeld!! Love things going full circle.  :-)

What a difference a year makes

I've always loved looking back on old photos and now with Grace I'm struck by how huge the changes are in her month to month. Time moves so fast.

Dress ups

As part of the sales conference leftovers I was able to take home some leis for Grace today.  Well needless to say they were a huge hit! Love her wee feet sticking out the bottom after she managed to get all sizes round her neck. Oh and I forgot to say, work gave me another super large photo print out! This one is of Grace, Chad and Flynn at Lake Taupo on Christmas Day. Squeal!!
