In the last few weeks, it has become more apparent how behind Grace is in class. I am so upset for her. While she is doing tutoring, it seems that recently her growth has really stopped and her behavior is not great. So the tutor rang us as she said Grace was getting distracted at tutoring and told the teacher she was tired all the time. I was pretty shitty as up until now we were told she was making progress - o still behind but moving in the right direction. What frustrates me is the comment about her behaviour - I know that when she feels unsure, is asked to try something new, or knows she doesn't know the answer she starts to negotiate to get out of it. Or she says she is tired, or sick. It's a coping mechanism - it's not bad behaviour. Last night I sat with Grace to talk about a simple maths problem (125 - 85) and she was trying to do it, talking me through her approach I could see how confused she was and how she didn't know what to do.
