Goodbye Australia, hello paint brushes!!!!

Last week I said my final goodbye to Australia. My entire household effects were packed into a container and will today be put on a ship headed for NZ. Surprisingly I was not sad about this, I guess I said my "goodbyes" prior to Christmas, so this seemed like a tidying up of loose ends. Mind you, it was a mad week, filled with signing documents, throwing out junk, packing up, and then doing a final tidy of the house prior to settlement.
Now I am back and have just had a look at my NZ house, now that the tenants have moved out. Bit of work to do to get it up to scratch again - mainly painting, gardening and a few other things that need to be replaced or repaired. The house is ten years old, so there is of course you expect things to get a bit battered over that time, but it is interesting how different tenants have treated the house over the years - some a rougher than others!!
Well, think of me tomorrow as I put on my painting clothes. If anyone is free to help - let me know!!
While I was away, my two cats were looked after by my parents. As expected, my parents' cats do not like the arrangement. In fact Zoe sits outside the window of the room that my two are in and growls at them. She also has attacked poor little Tui and whacked Penne across the butt. Penne is responding by spraying on EVERYTHING - a bit passive aggressive, but understandable given the situation, I mean it would be rude to attack your hosts back wouldn't it?
I guess as a thank you gift to my parents for looking after them, I had better buy some disinfectant and air freshener. Although I doubt my cats will be invited back for another stay!!!!!!

Picture of an 11 year olds desk

Grace has her desk in the family room, mainly due to space in her room but also to help her not lock herself away. She just finished tidying it and I love how it represents where she is at. Lots of art, Lego still displayed proudly, pillow on chair covering her phone ( she is still adhering to the no phone in her room rule, yay!), pottery on display. A beautiful blend of child and teenager!

Everyone is growing up

Turning 50 is a weird milestone - I dont feel 50, and I dont really put a lot of weight behind milestone numbers. But I do like reflecting on life, and I feel I have grown, learnt from many of my mistakes, and lived a pretty great life. The biggest change is watching just how much Grace has grown this year. Today I washed some of her baby clothes that I found so I can store them and it took me right back to when my whole clothes line had tiny little outfits on it. This year, she everything has changed and I am in so much grief for the loss of some of the old routines, it hurts!!  She is still my little button and I see that side of her when she is unsure or overwhelmed. I need to manage my patience through these growing phases, as my sister said "give her space and grace". She is the kindest, funniest and sweetest girl and I love her so much that it honestly hurts. I hope she knows that. She seems to have all my worst moments front of mind that I wonder at times if she sees ...
