Wet Cat and Car Model

Today my large cat Penne came in from outside. He was wet. Okay, wet is really not doing it justice, he was drenched.  I have no idea what happened to him but I suspect he fell into the river next to my house.

I tried to dry him with a towel, but it was not very effective, so I sat him in front of the heater, where he stayed for the rest of the day, looking embarrassed and miserable.

Meanwhile, my small cat has found a new favourite place in the house which I discovered when I went out to do my laundry.

And my day - well I had heaps of visitors, watched "Flight of the Conchords" season three, and got some groceries.

Oh and I bought some new nail polish that is "inspired" by the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

I am not kidding you.

I bought the pink one called "Sparrow Me The Drama" (They are all pastel shades which makes it harder to figure out the connection to the movie?!?!)

Also available is "Skull and Glossbones", "Steady As She Rose", "Planks A Lot" and "Stranger Tides"

I want to share with you the blurb from the OPI website:

"OPI captures the bright colours and breathtaking adventure of the Disney release of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides starring Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz with seven new swashbuckling shades you’re sure to treasure!

The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Collection includes trend-setting shades of pink, lavender and sage, and our new Silver Shatter - a stunning new shade that creates a “shattered” effect when applied over nail lacquer…it’s “ARG-uably” the coolest thing you’ll ever see!"

Everyone is growing up

Turning 50 is a weird milestone - I dont feel 50, and I dont really put a lot of weight behind milestone numbers. But I do like reflecting on life, and I feel I have grown, learnt from many of my mistakes, and lived a pretty great life. The biggest change is watching just how much Grace has grown this year. Today I washed some of her baby clothes that I found so I can store them and it took me right back to when my whole clothes line had tiny little outfits on it. This year, she everything has changed and I am in so much grief for the loss of some of the old routines, it hurts!!  She is still my little button and I see that side of her when she is unsure or overwhelmed. I need to manage my patience through these growing phases, as my sister said "give her space and grace". She is the kindest, funniest and sweetest girl and I love her so much that it honestly hurts. I hope she knows that. She seems to have all my worst moments front of mind that I wonder at times if she sees ...

Picture of an 11 year olds desk

Grace has her desk in the family room, mainly due to space in her room but also to help her not lock herself away. She just finished tidying it and I love how it represents where she is at. Lots of art, Lego still displayed proudly, pillow on chair covering her phone ( she is still adhering to the no phone in her room rule, yay!), pottery on display. A beautiful blend of child and teenager!
