Car parks

So today when I arrived at the carpark, the ticket dispenser at the boom gate was broken. The guy fixing it said for me to just go in. When I asked about a ticket to get out again, he said that someone would let me out after work and I just needed to explain what happened. I left the building, and in my gut I knew that it couldn't be that easy.

Fast forward to 5.30 and I drive down to the exit boomgate.

So I park and get out. I peer through the one way glass of the booth to see if someone is inside (nope)and look for a number to ring to find someone (no number).

Actually there was a number, but it was damn small. Finally got through to the right person who said he would come down and let me out.

So I sat in my car, door open (so they person would know I was the one who called) and waited.

And waited.

And waited.

It was about 30min later that I saw movement in the corner of my eye. I looked over to the booth. As I mentioned, the booth had one way glass, so I could not see in the booth, but I could see a hand sticking out the slot at the bottom of the window.

The hand was waving a ticket.

It takes me a while to click that the hand is waving a ticket for me. So I go over and there is a man there who says the ticket will get me out.

I offer to pay but he says no.

I walk back to my car, wondering if he had been in the booth the whole time. It is then that I notice a Wilson carpark car that had not been there before, which he must of arrived in.

Clearly BZZYBE and I look a bit too intimidating to approach directly, so he only felt safe giving me a ticket from the booth.

I need to try and look less scary.

Picture of an 11 year olds desk

Grace has her desk in the family room, mainly due to space in her room but also to help her not lock herself away. She just finished tidying it and I love how it represents where she is at. Lots of art, Lego still displayed proudly, pillow on chair covering her phone ( she is still adhering to the no phone in her room rule, yay!), pottery on display. A beautiful blend of child and teenager!

Everyone is growing up

Turning 50 is a weird milestone - I dont feel 50, and I dont really put a lot of weight behind milestone numbers. But I do like reflecting on life, and I feel I have grown, learnt from many of my mistakes, and lived a pretty great life. The biggest change is watching just how much Grace has grown this year. Today I washed some of her baby clothes that I found so I can store them and it took me right back to when my whole clothes line had tiny little outfits on it. This year, she everything has changed and I am in so much grief for the loss of some of the old routines, it hurts!!  She is still my little button and I see that side of her when she is unsure or overwhelmed. I need to manage my patience through these growing phases, as my sister said "give her space and grace". She is the kindest, funniest and sweetest girl and I love her so much that it honestly hurts. I hope she knows that. She seems to have all my worst moments front of mind that I wonder at times if she sees ...
