Car Crash

So on Wednesday, I had a car accident. Well that does make it sound worse than it was. I was in a car and I had an accident.

Okay, let me start at the beginning. I had been out all morning so got to work at about 11am.  I went to my usual car park, but realised that I probably would not be able to get a park at that time. The car park I use is very cheap, but it is pretty derelict. It was not designed to be a parking building, so has three levels with three different entrances to each level. Within the car park area itself, there are random pillars that you have to manoeuvre round.

I went in to the middle floor where I normally park and sure enough, it was full. But I did realise that the second level probably had space, so decided to give that a go. After doing a difficult 37 point turn to get out of the first level, I attempted to get round a corner and up the steep ramp to the second level.  Here is where things when horribly wrong.

I had approached the ramp on completely the wrong angle, so as a result, had to go back and forth to try and move my car round. I did this about 20 times when I must have got confused and put the car in drive when I meant reverse. I then put my foot on the gas and then quickly went to put my foot on the brake but missed and instead accelerated at speed into the corner. The crunch sound was sickening.

I sat there for a few seconds and then drove off to find another parking building.  I really did not want to see the damage cause I knew that it would be hideous. And it was.  All down one side of BZZYBE is scratched and dented. I can't open the passenger door anymore.

So tomorrow I am dropping him off to be fixed. Most annoying thing is that it was 100% my fault. While I would like to share the blame with the wall, I really can't.

Everyone is growing up

Turning 50 is a weird milestone - I dont feel 50, and I dont really put a lot of weight behind milestone numbers. But I do like reflecting on life, and I feel I have grown, learnt from many of my mistakes, and lived a pretty great life. The biggest change is watching just how much Grace has grown this year. Today I washed some of her baby clothes that I found so I can store them and it took me right back to when my whole clothes line had tiny little outfits on it. This year, she everything has changed and I am in so much grief for the loss of some of the old routines, it hurts!!  She is still my little button and I see that side of her when she is unsure or overwhelmed. I need to manage my patience through these growing phases, as my sister said "give her space and grace". She is the kindest, funniest and sweetest girl and I love her so much that it honestly hurts. I hope she knows that. She seems to have all my worst moments front of mind that I wonder at times if she sees ...

Picture of an 11 year olds desk

Grace has her desk in the family room, mainly due to space in her room but also to help her not lock herself away. She just finished tidying it and I love how it represents where she is at. Lots of art, Lego still displayed proudly, pillow on chair covering her phone ( she is still adhering to the no phone in her room rule, yay!), pottery on display. A beautiful blend of child and teenager!
