Red faced..and armed...and legged

Today, I got up, showered, got dressed, and went to work. As I was driving in, I felt my face getting hotter. And hotter. By the time I got to the car park, my face felt really red, and as I peered into the car mirror, I looked pretty flushed too.

By the time I walked to the office, my arms and back and started to feel warm and itchy. When I walked in, only one other person was in the office (it was 7:30) and she saw the red and asked if I was okay. At this stage I was burning so I went and washed my face, But even that was not enough, so I hopped in the shower at work in order to try and wash off whatever I had got on my skin that it was reacting too. No joy.

Finally at 8am, after about a hour of wanting to rip my skin off, I went to a local doctor and they gave me a shot of antihistamine in the butt. The plus to this was about 20 min later, my skin felt better, the downside was that I now had a sore butt, and I was getting really woozy.

So I walked back to walk and then sat at my desk trying to recover enough to drive home. People at work were sooo lovely as I sat there in my dizzy state. Finally after lunch I had my head together enough to get home and then I just slept till now.

I have no idea what caused the reaction, I didn't do anything different this morning, but boy, what ever I did do, I don't want to do it again!!!

Picture of an 11 year olds desk

Grace has her desk in the family room, mainly due to space in her room but also to help her not lock herself away. She just finished tidying it and I love how it represents where she is at. Lots of art, Lego still displayed proudly, pillow on chair covering her phone ( she is still adhering to the no phone in her room rule, yay!), pottery on display. A beautiful blend of child and teenager!

Everyone is growing up

Turning 50 is a weird milestone - I dont feel 50, and I dont really put a lot of weight behind milestone numbers. But I do like reflecting on life, and I feel I have grown, learnt from many of my mistakes, and lived a pretty great life. The biggest change is watching just how much Grace has grown this year. Today I washed some of her baby clothes that I found so I can store them and it took me right back to when my whole clothes line had tiny little outfits on it. This year, she everything has changed and I am in so much grief for the loss of some of the old routines, it hurts!!  She is still my little button and I see that side of her when she is unsure or overwhelmed. I need to manage my patience through these growing phases, as my sister said "give her space and grace". She is the kindest, funniest and sweetest girl and I love her so much that it honestly hurts. I hope she knows that. She seems to have all my worst moments front of mind that I wonder at times if she sees ...
