Will a midnight bottle feed stop the 4 am feed???

Update: It's 4am.  She woke and cried but settled immediately I put dummy back in. Let's see if she can make it to 7am.

Update: It's 5am.  Crying again. Dummy put in. Harder to settle but not the urgent screaming of previous nights where food was the only answer.

Really hate this part of bring a parent.  I'm currently sore from injury I got while pregnant. I'm trying to exercise to lose weight but of course that inflames the injury resulting in me hurting a lot. I'm tired from choppy nights sleep and I feel like a failure for not getting her to sleep.

On top of that I really want to go to a concert next week and stay the night in town (a treat from my wonderful man) but Grace is so clingy at the moment that I know she will be a nightmare for my sister who is babysitting. So now I feel guilty about taking my treat.

Don't get me wrong, I'm loving so much of this parenting journey and I love my little family with all my heart.  I'm truly the happiest I've ever been!! But the pain sleep deprivation combo sucks and colours my perspective during some of these early mornings.

Update: It's 6:30am. Up for good this time but charming and cheerful as she wakes. No urgent screaming like the 4am wakes of the past.  Very pleasant way to wake up to my gorgeous cooing girl.

So was the midnight feed worth it? I think so. Will try again tonight. And will try to be kinder on myself when it comes to getting in shape and enjoying my treats guilt free.

Picture of an 11 year olds desk

Grace has her desk in the family room, mainly due to space in her room but also to help her not lock herself away. She just finished tidying it and I love how it represents where she is at. Lots of art, Lego still displayed proudly, pillow on chair covering her phone ( she is still adhering to the no phone in her room rule, yay!), pottery on display. A beautiful blend of child and teenager!

Everyone is growing up

Turning 50 is a weird milestone - I dont feel 50, and I dont really put a lot of weight behind milestone numbers. But I do like reflecting on life, and I feel I have grown, learnt from many of my mistakes, and lived a pretty great life. The biggest change is watching just how much Grace has grown this year. Today I washed some of her baby clothes that I found so I can store them and it took me right back to when my whole clothes line had tiny little outfits on it. This year, she everything has changed and I am in so much grief for the loss of some of the old routines, it hurts!!  She is still my little button and I see that side of her when she is unsure or overwhelmed. I need to manage my patience through these growing phases, as my sister said "give her space and grace". She is the kindest, funniest and sweetest girl and I love her so much that it honestly hurts. I hope she knows that. She seems to have all my worst moments front of mind that I wonder at times if she sees ...
