Top five sleeping habits

So we've managed to convince Grace not to come into our bed at night (thanks Granny Boot Camp for training yet while we were away!) BUT I have had to pop in every few nights to her room when she has woken up to re settle her.

Here's my top five learnings about her sleeping habits:

1. She grinds her teeth! It's the most horrible sound! What's a three year old got to stress about that causes her to grind her teeth? What will be the dentist bill if she keeps this up?

2. She talks in her sleep. My fav quotes so far are: "Daddy will fix it.....no Mummy will fix it." and "I love Shopkins." (Shopkins are a toy her cousin has which she desperately wants.)

3. She prefers to sleep diagonal across the bed, with her head resting on her Bee Bee bunny or have him dropped across her face like a sleeping mask.

4. If I rub her back to get her back to sleep, she will reach out and pat my hand.

5. She looks so beautiful asleep, it's all I can do not to wake her to cuddle her.

Chad and I have also noticed huge changes in her vocabulary and creativeness since we've been away. Last night on our drive home from visiting her Nanny, she spoke at length about wanting to catch the moon. She talked about how she needed wings to fly up to get it, where she would put it when she caught it and who lives on the moon (a boy called Albie in case you are wondering).

It was so lovely to hear her imagination run wild. I hope she is dreaming of that tonight.

Picture of an 11 year olds desk

Grace has her desk in the family room, mainly due to space in her room but also to help her not lock herself away. She just finished tidying it and I love how it represents where she is at. Lots of art, Lego still displayed proudly, pillow on chair covering her phone ( she is still adhering to the no phone in her room rule, yay!), pottery on display. A beautiful blend of child and teenager!

Everyone is growing up

Turning 50 is a weird milestone - I dont feel 50, and I dont really put a lot of weight behind milestone numbers. But I do like reflecting on life, and I feel I have grown, learnt from many of my mistakes, and lived a pretty great life. The biggest change is watching just how much Grace has grown this year. Today I washed some of her baby clothes that I found so I can store them and it took me right back to when my whole clothes line had tiny little outfits on it. This year, she everything has changed and I am in so much grief for the loss of some of the old routines, it hurts!!  She is still my little button and I see that side of her when she is unsure or overwhelmed. I need to manage my patience through these growing phases, as my sister said "give her space and grace". She is the kindest, funniest and sweetest girl and I love her so much that it honestly hurts. I hope she knows that. She seems to have all my worst moments front of mind that I wonder at times if she sees ...
